Where Can I Serve?
Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Ridge Manor Community UMC is outreach. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Ridge Manor Community UMC members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as stuffing the church bulletins to running our food pantry that feeds 50+ families a month.
Ridge Manor Community UMC is proud to have an outreach team that is making an impact in our community. This team runs three food pantry distributions each month. The first and third Monday’s from 4:30-6:00pm, then the second Tuesday from 9am – noon. Our outreach team distributes 30-35 backpacks with shoes each year for kids, all donations come from our church family. We collect food items to give out Thanksgiving baskets for families, each year we run an Angel Tree program for kids each year where they get a gift and they get to shop for gifts for their families as well. We also do a drive-by Christmas. This is where we bring baskets of donated gifts, baked goods and gift cards to families in our community on Christmas morning.
We love kids here at Ridge Manor Community UMC. We teach kids a simple Sunday school lesson on Saturday nights and again on Sunday mornings. During the school year we feed them each Wednesday night at 6pm and have games and activities, like crafts, with a lesson. Throughout the year we have several large events to reach the kids of our community, “Old Fashion Egg-Hunt”, “Fall Festival” and VBS. (vacation bible school).
Cleaning Crew & Lawn Care Team
Some people love to serve but hate to be in the spotlight. We have an amazing team of volunteers who clean our church each week to make sure it stays clean and presentable. Much like our cleaning crew our lawn care team takes pride in keeping the grounds looking good. Everything they do they do as unto the Lord.
Ridge Manor Community UMC and Donna Martucci would be a mess without this team. Our A-Team (Administrative Team) is a group of volunteers who come in either half a day or a whole day and answer phones, make calls, fold and stuff bulletins, greet people as they enter the building throughout the week and much, much more.
Here at Ridge Manor Community UMC we like to work together. It takes several people to make our weekend worship gatherings go smoothly. This team consist of our media volunteers running the power point and videos along with our sound tech. Ushers and Greeters who are the first to greet you at the doors and make sure everyone has a seat and a bulletin. They take up the offering and assist in serving communion which is prepared by another group of people. Our music is lead by gifted musicians and singers each service as well.
Ridge Manor Community UMC believes in our teens. Our youth group meets each week on Thursday nights at 6pm for snacks, games, hanging out and a lesson. Pastor Guy wants the teens to feel loved and accepted as part of the family here, regardless if their parents attend our church or not. This generation will grow up to be the most influential generation of all time and its important to sow the word in their hearts and to model Christ character and love to them.
At Ridge Manor Community UMC we have a special team of volunteers who look for those missing week to week and they connect with them to make sure everything is going well. This team visits our shut-ins and those in hospital and hospice care.
Small Group Ministry
We know people fall through the cracks and people get overlooked in the busyness of life. So Ridge Manor Community UMC has small groups that meet throughout the week at various homes or restaurants or at the church to “do life together”. This is what we call discipleship, discussing the word, having a meal or cup of coffee together and asking each other “How is it with your soul?”. As the body of Christ we need one another for encouragement and support.
